1) It's better than I remembered but that's not saying much. Of all of the 80s horror sequel movies (this, Halloween and Friday the 13th), the Nightmare series is by far the worst. This movie isn't horrible but it's definitely the movie that starts the downward trend for the whole Nightmare series.
2) I guess it starts off in a similar manner as the other ones which is solid. The problem is the goofy ass ways that they start TKOing Freddy. I tried rewinding this to figure out exactly how that girl beats him up and I'm still not sure I understand it. She like shows Freddy that he's actually been possessing all of these other kids and so he just collapses on himself?
3) And how does she start accumulating all of the other kids powers? This also begs the question that if this can defeat Freddy (at least until the next movie) why don't they always do this in future movies?
4) It's also disheartening to realize that if eventually I ever become good at boxing that Freddy could still just put a whooping on me.

Freddy v. Jason Part 2
Wgbw! Interesting post today. This will be the first time that I'm re-reviewing a movie (you can see my original post here). Roger Ebert does it every now and then with movies he thinks that are classics and this movie is definitely a top 3.
Also @enronnie thought it would be a good idea. I know a lot of my followers (and I appreciate all of you) want me to review some movie. But most of the time it's either a) really boring, b) really long, or c) overrated. So get in my good graces and you might be rewarded. Anywho,
1) It still hasn't gone out of style. The plot's still really sick, the first 30 minutes are awesome, and the movie doesn't take some stupid turn for the worse near the end of it.
2) I caught a lot more references this time to previous movies. I will ashamedly (sp?) admit that I missed most of these the first time around because I hadn't seen all the jitsu sequels to the Nightmare on Elm Street movies. The other month I didn't realize that Freddy had a kid smh. Nevertheless I feel like a more thorough horror movie fan at this point in my life lol. The only big one (*big one lol*) that I'll point out for you fans was when Jason was in his nightmare and had that bag over his head; this was an obvious reference to Friday the 13th Part 2 where he reps the bag over his head instead of tha hockey mask.
3) I also never mentioned how much of a babe I thought the title character was. She's kinda goofy during the movie, but whatever.
4) This is a timeless classic that will never go out of style. I could watch this movie on repeat for hours. Evan @markster tuned into the movie and the movie again with director's commentary; that's how good it is.

Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge
1) Pretty solid, especially compared to all of the bad sequels that come after this. Actually, the first 3 movies, and the new nightmare are all pretty good, but the rest of them just blow.
2) There was definitely some jitsu going on. Like when Freddy pops out of the dude's stomach. I also don't really get why Freddy possesses the Jesse guy and has him kill all of these people. I really wish they just would've stuck to the good old days where you get KO'd in your dreams and not by some super natural entity.
3) Freddy also must have been working on his striking technique. As I noted in the first one he was a pretty big n00b. He got messed up when Nancy hit him with a lamp, and now he is Jean-Claude Van Damming these kids at the pool party.
4) Some trivia IMDB let me in on.
a) I never realized that the Freddy theme isn't used in this one.
b) Brad Pitt and John Stamos both tried out to play Jesse (so did Christian Slater but I don't really know who that is)

Wes Craven's New Nightmare
Getting in a quick blog post after a busy day LOL
1) This was a pretty spooky movie for the first hour. The spooky part about the movie thats about a movie is that it could happen in real life. It's why Chucky is so spooky: BECAUSE EVERYONE THINKS HE'S NOT REAL.
2) It's also scary because the kid from Pet Sematary and Kindergarten Cop
3) The problem with this movie is it goes wrong where the rest of the Nightmare on Elm Street sequels go wrong (which I haven't reviewed yet lol): after the first 30 minutes. Don't get it twisted, there's a bunch of Nightmare movies that are definitely top 25, but for a lot of the sequels they just get jitsu when Freddy's world gets introduced. I mean, come on, Freddy's tongue is really a weapon in this one? And what was up the stupid earthquakes the whole time? Freddy can't really have that much power over tectonic plate shifts can he?
In the end it's lightyears ahead of some of the sequels, but still well behind the rest.

Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
1) The killer in the psychiatric ward isn't done that often, props for originality.
2) Some of the shit gives me the willies. The kid being pulled around by his blood vessel things was creepy as nuts. So was the part with the holes in the chicks arms.
3) The movie was like 90% good except for a few small parts. I don't know how they managed to all dream together. The dream sharing jitsu gets stupid when they all just start farting around with all the different things they can do. The kid with the stupid green powers? Jitsu. Even then it's stupid; the girl who dreams she's a bad ass gets pwned by Freddy even though it's her dream lol.
4) I also don't understand why they had to have Freddy's Mom Ghost/Nun lady running around. Seems like these horror movies are best told with only 1 storyline going on, not all this extra supernatural jitsu.
5) How tight was it to be that mute kid? He used to debate and then got to make out with the half clothed hot nurse lady. #yeahbuddy

Freddy v. Jason
1) It's sick. The movie sets up the background of both characters real well. If people hadn't seen any of the movies before they'd still know how freddy and jason both went apeshit.
2) There's a bunch of kills that are like ones in previous movies. Freddy getting his head loped off is how Jason's mom died in the first movie. In Jason Goes to Hell, Jason's mask is dug up by a dog at the end of the movie, and a freddy claw comes out of the ground and pulls the mask down to hell. A pretty sick setup that a lot of people probably missed b/c Jason Goes to Hell was a pretty big turd of a movie.
3) The rest of the deaths are all pretty crazy. The dude gets crunched up in the bed, that one chick gets flung from a big stick, and jason throws that sick flaming knife after the redneck dude.
4) there's a fair amount of nudity to which matches the rest of the movies lol.
Top notch shit - A+
Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
After listening to that British n00b talk about the new one being shitty I thought I'd revisit the old one.
1) Overall it's a sick movie. Any movie that spawns like 10 sequels had something going for it.
2) It's not too spooky. Except for Johnny Depp who generally just scares the hell out of me, even in that jitsu willy wonka remake he was in.
3) The part at the end where Nancy sets up all the traps reminds me of home alone. Theres like that wire that trips Freddy and the big sledge hammer that falls off that door. Freddy even gets knocked over by all these jitsu traps.
4) It's clear after this movie that Jason or Michael Myers would actually put a whooping on Freddy. Freddy got fucked up when Nancy hit him in the head with a flower vase but Michael Myers gets shot and shit and it doesn't even phase him. Michael 1, Freddy 0.

Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 Version

Top notch shit right here
1) It's good shit all around- its got a bunch of creepy little girls making moves the whole time and the characters all die in crazy ways and it pretty much matches the way the first one went down.
2) The only part that could be better is Freddy's face. It looks like Reptile from Mortal Kombat when he transports into that other world. #Jitsu. Freddy's not near as good with the new actor but he comes close enough.
Pretty close to as good as you can get.
