Happy Friday tha 13th bw. I have some more reviews to do this October, but have been pretty busy lol.
1) First of all, I didn't think this many sequels in could be so good. I mean, tha last one was top notch, so who knew how they would top it.
2) I love that tha original Andy returned, but that they continued to build off of tha story line from tha last movie. The brief gist is that after Andy got Chucky mailed to him, he basically locked tha doll up and tortures it. However, tha main girl from tha last movie is now in a mental institution due to everyone thinking that she [but obvi actually Chucky] killed everyone in tha prior movie.
3) Tha only goofy part is obvi that Chucky has now learned how to get himself into other dolls which is how they wreck havoc on everyone in tha mental hospital. At first I was skeptical, but it's a pretty good plot twist. Although obvi it will have trouble if they make another movie.
4) All of tha kills were pretty crazy, it was only 90 minutes long, and it connected well back to all tha other movies. Not much to say, but it was really solid.
A+
(oh ps- if you watch tha non-Netflix version, tha foster sister from tha second movie comes back at tha end. Really top notch stuff.)

Scariest Movies of All Time: #9: Child's Play 2
Wgbw, the 9th scariest movie of all time is tha hit movie Child's Play 2.
Nostradamus Buffalo was up to it again:
"It used to be one of the scariest movies of all time. I saw this when I was in the 6th grade and it literally scarred me for the better part of a decade." (emphasis added).
Now I know I've been given a lot of shit about this throughout my undergrad years, but someone seriously look at that picture and tell me you're not scared.
Creepy stuff,

Seed of Chucky
1) While we we're in the spirit of Chucky I figured that I'd round out the series by reviewing this turd of a movie. Definitely the lowest of low for the franchise. It totally explains why they were so apprehensive about funding another movie after this one.
2) Not a lot of it makes sense or was really funny. I mean, Redman makes a cameo for almost no real purpose. Chucky drives Britney Spears off the road and makes an "opps I did it again" joke. And how'd Glen get tha British voice? Smh.
3) You remember the first time you got JWW's Taiwan file? He's hyped it up the whole summer, it's like 600 some odd pages, and has like 18 different chapters. You're like WOW, I can't wait to get a hold of this. Then you realize that you might as well have just donated all that paper to the local pet store to give the birds something to crap on. (LOL JK JON).
Likewise, here, the whole movie, you sit here, watching it, hoping it gets better. And then it just gets worse and worse. Jennifer Tilly gets pregnant from Chucky's semen that his lady friend impregnated her with. I mean do I really need to go much further into it than that?
Eh, it's still Chucky,

Curse of Chucky
1) Super pumped that one of the original horror villains that ruined the better part of my adolescence has returned. And not returned in the comedic-horror genre, but an attempt at returning to Chucky's roots. This musical ensemble (lol @ the academy awards) was so tight b/c the music was super scary tha whole time. Tight they brought back tha original voice of Chucky too.
2) And it wasn't just a shitty remake. At first I thought Chucky was just gonna run a train on some strangers. Then tha movie explains the family that Chucky was terrorizing was actually a family that (25 years ago) he was wrecking havoc on with when he ran from the police during the opening scene of the original Child's Play. Talk about some sequencing. This is light years better than the connections that the Halloween movies tried to make between all of those sequels.
3) And what a great ending. Jennifer Tilly (sp?) returned to send Chucky back to Alice where he started to steal her soul.Flash forward 6 months, Chucky gets sent back as a package to THE ORIGINAL ANDY BARCLAY (who made a cameo in the movie). THAT IS HOW YOU SET UP A SEQUEL.
4) Hard to say how good I thought this was. In terms of how low my expectations were for a straight to DVD reboot, this couldn't have gotten any better. It got scary again, and managed to both reference and fit in time wise with the rest of the sequels.
As that one idiot said about the awful movie the Artist, "The [] ending had me on my feet cheering throughout the final credits. I can't wait to see it again."

BTWF: #10: Katherine Heigl: Bride of Chucky
Her first big role in a motion picture, Katherine Heigl made it rain in Bride of Chucky. Although the movie was far from good (although probably better than a D+), it's pretty big news to be in the Child's Play movies. She'd later go on to be in Knocked Up and apparently that jitsu Grey's Anatomy.

Bride of Chucky
WGBW
1) It was okay. I like most of the sequel based horror movies but I'm not wild about the comical turn Chucky takes. At least it was good because it made me less scared of him lol.
2) The comedy is good at times. When Chuckys dicking around with all of the toys its sick but the jokes about the movie being a bad sequel kinda rain on the movie's parade.
3) Katherine Heigl has a big role in this movie lol. 8-]
4) Some of the kills were pretty jitsu. Firing the nails into that guy from Problem Child? #jitsu
5) I like most of the jitsu sequels to most other horror movies, even if they are pretty stupid, but this gets a little out of hand. :( for ruining the first few by making these funny.

Child's Play 3
1) Solid stuff. It fits the rest of the Chucky - The Killer DVD Collection
2) That being said I do think this is where the movies start to go south. Chucky has a wreck of jokes here and I think it's where he loses his scariness. There's just no real spooky parts in this movie. In Child's Play there's that scary scene where the Mom starts to realize that the doll might be real and sees that theres no batteries in Chucky. Even in Child's Play 2 theres the creepy scene where the sister has to make moves through the house. The amusement park wasn't creepy and neither was them looking for Colonel whoever in the academy.
3) Frank's hot wife from Old School (Widescreen Unrated Edition)
4) They must say COLONEL like 72 times, it was sick.
Good, but not as good as the rest,

Child's Play 2
1) It used to be one of the scariest movies of all time. I saw this when I was in the 6th grade and it literally scarred me for the better part of a decade.
2) The scary part about the whole thing is the same reason why people make fun of it. No one thinks a doll could come alive and kill everyone but it does! Spooky shit.
3) All of the Child's Play movies were so much scarier back before they made Chucky try to be funny. Don't get it twisted he's funny in this one, but they obviously took it to another level during Bride of Chucky
4) The ending got jitsu. It seemed like he just kept coming back and coming back.
Good for historical reasons more so than anything

Child's Play
1) It's not as historically important for me as the child's play 2 movie. This one's not as scary b/c you don't actually see chucky move around for the first part of the movie.
2) But don't get it twisted, it gets scary. The first part where you actually see Chucky move is when that fires going and he talks without the batteries in him and then he makes it rain on Andy's mom. And all the times Andy has to stay in the same room as Chucky is creepy as shit.
3) The creepiest part of Chucky is that no one thinks hes real. I always get the question 'but it's just a doll'. But that's exactly what everyone in the movie says then they get all fucked up.
Little Jennings was forever scarred because of that doll. I mean that shit lasted for like a decade so it's hard to rank this too low.
